Wet N’ Wild Fun
The lakeside fun here at Gull Lake really can’t be beat; it’s known as one of Minnesota’s best vacation lakes for a reason! Gull Lake offers a myriad of water fun opportunities, whether you enjoy water skiing, fishing, swimming, or just kicking back on the beach. Imagine a day spent lounging by the waterside, soaking up the sun, and going for endless swims. Or, if you prefer a more active option, consider taking out the kayaks available in our units for the day, or taking a stand-up paddling lesson. For the true adrenaline junkie, go ahead and rent a jet ski, or a ski boat to get out there and water ski the day away!
If you want to get out on the water in style, consider renting one of our tritoon boats, which offer maximum stability. With a Yamaha F150 motor, seating for 14, and 24 feet of fully stocked fun, our tritoon boats are a great way to spend a vacation day exploring Gull Lake. Head out fishing with your family and friends and see who can land the biggest catch!
Adventure on Land
While Gull Lake is obviously full of water sports, you can have just as great a time on land as you can on the lake. Play a round of golf on one of the area’s many courses or go hunt for bargains at the mall in Brainerd. Take the family for some water slide action at Nisswa Family Fun Center or challenge them to a round of mini golf at Pirate’s Cove. Consider renting bicycles, and spending a day exploring the Paul Bunyan Trail, a paved wonder that will have you pedaling through beautiful scenery.
If you’re eager for a more active adventure, how about a trail ride? Pine River Riding Stable offers private group rides, where you can enjoy splashing through the river on your horse, while you keep an eye out for wildlife along the trail. Or, for a more nontraditional animal experience, head over to Safari North and feed the giraffes! That’s right, you can say hello to parrots, ride a camel, and learn a lot about exotic animals right here in Brainerd. Go ahead and pet the tortoises; this unique zoo has a great variety of animals, and is very hands-on, so children will love it.
If you want to really get the adrenaline pumping, go on the Brainerd Zip Line Tour for an experience you’ll never forget! This 2.5-hour zip line experience will have you flying high above the Brainerd Lakes, for a view you’ve never seen before. Finish off the seven-zip line tour with an optional 50-foot freefall drop to really get your heart pounding! If you prefer to get your adrenaline as a spectator, you can always catch a race at the Brainerd International Raceway instead.
You can always just take a hike as well, on one of the many fine trails in the Gull Lake area and enjoy the peaceful scenery. Check out Crow Wing State Park and stop by the historic Old Crow Wing Town site for a view into a mid-1800s frontier town, positioned at the confluence of the Mississippi and Crow Wing Rivers, or head over to the Northland Arboretum to enjoy 12 miles of trails that are considered to be among the best in Minnesota; you’re likely to see local cross-country (running and skiing) teams out practicing here. For a deeper forest adventure, head over to Pillsbury State Forest to explore deciduous and coniferous trees, small lakes and ponds, and to look out for beavers along the way.
